As members of our social media community, you’re eligible to receive this special group pricing for these performances of Ballet Folklórico de Mexico de Amalia Hernandez, who returns to join our celebration of San Antonio’s Tricentennial.
When making your selection, please consider making a tax-deductible gift to help us fund a student-only performance through our ARTSTEACH program by Ballet Folklorico de Mexico on the afternoon of September 28 (more details below). Arts San Antonio is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and we rely on the generous support of people like you to deliver our programming to the community.
Our student-only performance of Ballet Folklorico de Mexico is being provided at no cost to the students thanks to generous supporters like you! In fact, students in our ARTSTEACH programs never pay for any arts education they receive from ARTS San Antonio. This is why your donation is so important!
ARTSTEACH helps children break through economic barriers. Many participating students attend Title I schools and have yet to experience live artistic performances in a professional venue by artists of this caliber. By making a donation, you can help change their life!
Chances are, your first interaction with any type of performing arts was through your childhood education. Well, ARTS San Antonio wants to share that experience with this growing generation of students. Arts are a vital component to a strong and positive life.
An artistic residency of Ballet Folklorico of Mexico will provide two days of dance master classes for high school students, and two performances exclusively for area middle school and high school students.
According to the arts advocacy group, Americans for the Arts, arts education has undeniable benefits:
– Stimulates and develops the imagination and critical thinking, and refines cognitive and creative skills.
-Has a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of every child and has proven to help level the “learning field” across socio-economic boundaries.
– Strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, adding to overall academic achievement and school success.
-Develops a sense of craftsmanship, quality task performance, and goal-setting-skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
-Teaches children life skills such as developing an informed perception; articulating a vision; learning to solve problems and make decisions; building self-confidence and self-discipline; developing the ability to imagine what might be; and accepting responsibility to complete tasks from start to finish.
-Nurtures important values, including team-building skills; respecting alternative viewpoints; and appreciating and being aware of different cultures and traditions.
