"One of the world’s great virtuosic pianists." The New York Times
Winner of four Grammy Awards and “dean of Latin Jazz,” Chucho Valdés is a titan of the keyboard whose style is breathtaking. In the Latin and jazz communities, Valdés is revered as one of Cuba’s greatest jazz pianists. Bebop jazz meets Cuban dance rhythms in Valdés’ sophisticated and listener-friendly music.
Valdés’ talents combined with those of the four members who comprise the Afro-Cuban Messengers are sure to dazzle. The Messengers perform with a technical brilliance that has no real equal but they undergird their work with the African percussive rituals that stand at the very root of jazz. The result is a stand-up set that will be one of ARTS SA’s signature performances of the year.
